Celebration of Revd. Lesley's 30th Anniversary in the priesthood

Celebration of Revd. Lesley's 30th Anniversary in the priesthood

This year marks 30 years since women were enabled to be ordained into the Priesthood within the Church of England. The ordination of the first 32 women took place in the Diocese of Bristol at Bristol Cathedral on 12th March 1994. A few weeks later, on the 30th April 1994, the Diocese of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich held its first ordination of women to the priesthood at St. Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St. Edmunds, ordaining 22 women. I was among them.
On Saturday 27th April, I will be presiding at a celebration of the Eucharist, an opportunity to give thanks to God for the wonder and joy of my 30 years of priestly ministry, and for the many and varied ways in which the Church has been richly blessed through the shared ministry of men and women.
The service will take place at St. John the Baptist, Chelveston at 12 noon and will be followed by a light lunch. It would be an utter joy to share this time with you, as people who have shared my journey during these last few years.
Every blessing
Lesley
